Over 12 days you will witness the best of golden Myanmar, learning of the ancient relics and fascinating culture that will make you fall in love with the country.

Experience the colonial splendour of Yangon and travelling to Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda, which is curiously perched on the hill. Then, fly to Bagan, an ancient temple site where you will discover over 2,000 breathtaking temples. Mandalay, the last royal capital to explore the surroundings and see the landscape from the famous Mandalay Hill.

The end of the trip is in the Shan state where you will explore the unique biosphere of Inle Lake with its villages on stilts and floating gardens to learn about the locals unique way of life on the water.

Drive to Myanmar's best-known pilgrimage centre; the Golden Rock. It is a small pagoda built on the top of a granite boulder covered with gold leaf. According to legend, the Golden Rock itself is precariously perched on a strand of the Buddha's hair. Sittaung River offers great sunset views and is home to much wildlife that are particularly active during twilight hours, you'll take a cruise to enjoy the vibrant colours of the sunset.

Day 3

Bago Sightseeing and Return to Yangon

This morning drive to Bago, to see the tallest and famous Mon pagoda in Myanmar, often referred to as the Gold God Temple. After lunch, visit the 55 metre-long reclining Buddha, built in 994, during the reign of Mon King Migadepa. Then to the Kyaikpun Pagoda, famous for its quadrant of seated buddhas: Kakusandha, Konagamana, Kassapa, and Gautama. You'll return to Yangon in time for dinner.

In the morning fly to Bagan. On arrival you will be taken on a tour around the ancient sites and temples, exploring one of the most famous areas of Myanmar. Bagan was once home to tens of thousands of temples, now there are just 2,200 which is amazing nonetheless! Today, you'll see some of the oldest and best-preserved temples, finishing with a spectacular sunset as you watch the hot air balloons fly over head.

Take to the ancient sites in style by travelling for the day in horse and cart. With thousands of temples to explore, this is one of the most convenient ways to see all of the temples you need to. You'll go to some of the oldest and most significant landmarks of the old city delving deeper into the architecture and history of Old Bagan in its hey-day. Finish off the day at Nan Myint Tower for another stunning sunset between the hot air balloons that dot the skyline.

Mount Popa

In the morning transfer to Mount Popa, the extinct volcano site. When you arrive, you'll have the chance to hike the spectacular site for the stunning views across the plains. You'll be staying on the mountain and will have time to explore the monastery, shrines and pagodas on top said to be protected by the Nat spirits. You'll also have a picnic lunch on the mountain before staying at one of the resorts there.

You will be taken by private car from Bagan to Mandalay. On arrival, you'll be taken on a tour of the best sights in the area including Kuthodaw, known as the world's largest book; holding many scripts of Buddhist teaching. Watch another great sunset at Mandalay Hill. The city took its name from this hill, and known for its abundance of pagodas and monasteries, and has been a major pilgrimage site for Burmese Buddhists for nearly two centuries.

Mingun and Sagaing

In the morning, you'll visit the sights of Mingun, stopping by old temples and visiting the second-largest bell in the world. In the afternoon, it's on to another area called Sagaing where you'll visit some temples before climb Sagaing Hill, dotted with pagodas, shrines and monasteries. One of the highlights of the day will be stopping by a silversmithing workshop, where you'll see the artisans at work. In the evening, return to Mandalay.

You'll rise early to fly to Heho, then venture onto Pindaya. Upon arrival, you will explore the golden cave, Shwe U Min. Inside the cave you will discover thousands upon thousands of statues, with varying design, dates and history set in a limestone hill. After visiting the cave, you'll visit a paper workshop where you'll learn the processes behind making a traditional hti umbrella.

Sightseeing on Inle Lake

In the morning, you'll visit a very unique temple on Inle Lake that is made out of red teak. Then, it's onto Inle lake to witness a fascinating irrigation system and the infamous site of the Intha fishermen with their unique fishing techniques. Afterwards, visit an impressive wooden temple that takes back to the 1850s. Inle Lake sits in a valley between two mountain ranges, it feels like a different world to the rest of Myanmar.

Today, you'll go to the neighbouring Indein village to the west of Inle Lake, known for its market and two groups of ancient pagodas. You'll visit a series of pagodas and workshops that will give you a unique insight into the innovative ways of building and making things that the villagers have. You'll continue to serval other villages to meet the locals of Inle Lake.
