Overview

Beginning with a stop-over in Cairo International Airport, you fly immediately south to Marsa Alam. Your exploration of south Egypt will begin at the luxury Lahmy Azur Resort – the ultimate destination for beach and water activities, cultural sightseeing and close contact with nature.

You'll have some time to relax whilst also combing some culturally-rich activities including a visit to the city of Shalateen home to a famous camel market and exploring the rock art in the Obelix Valley.

Along with these iconic attractions, you'll also witness a legendary sunset at Qalaan Beach and immerse into the Nubian culture in Aswan visiting the pharaonic temples crowned by Abu Simbel and the mighty Aswan High Dam - a huge architectural project built to cope with the annual flooding of the River Nile.

Of course, before you complete your Egypt vacation you will get a taste of the megacity of Cairo, the mother of the world. The pyramids, the citadel and the Egyptian Museum will leave you in completely awe of Egypt's rich ancient history.

Upon arrival at Cairo airport, your guide will meet you and assist you with visa formalities and luggage collection, then will take you on your flight to Marsa Alam. Only a two-hour drive from Marsa Alam, you will discover the Eastern Desert and its highlights. Today, you will explore Shalateen's Camel Market, the oldest market in Egypt and Sudan where camels are traded. Here, you may try the famous local Gabbana coffee. On the way back, you will pass by Obelix Valley where you'll explore the fascinating footprints of the area's history, including rock inscriptions, gold and mineral mines, wells and watchtowers, religious shrines and buildings.

Today on your Egypt vacation, you'll leave Marsa Alam behind and drive the four-hour journey to Aswan. After checking in to your guesthouse, you will travel back in time to explore the Pharaonic temples and ancient Egyptian civilizations. You will be staying in a traditional Nubian guesthouse and in the evening, you will visit the famous Unfinished Obelisk, the largest ever constructed on Nubian Island. You'll then continue to the Nubian villages and later, the Nubian Museum.

Today, you will explore the magnificent temples in the Abu Simbel site. The temples were saved from the rising waters of Lake Nasser, growing behind the Aswan Dam, in a massive archaeological rescue plan sponsored by UNESCO in the 1960s. Over four years, these temples among many others in the area were moved to prevent them from being swallowed by the rising water created by the dam. The complex of temples is dedicated to Pharaoh Ramses II "the Great" remains an unforgettable destination.

Your guide will take you by the hand and give you an insider city tour over the next couple of days, concentrated on a special area beside the mainstream. No Egypt vacation is complete without a visit to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. With over 120,000 artefacts, the museum houses an unbelievable exhibit depicting ancient Egypt's prime. Mummies, sarcophagi, pottery, jewellery and, of course, King Tutankhamen's treasures - it's all there. The boy king's death-mask - discovered in its tomb - is made of solid gold and it has been described as the most beautiful object ever made. In the afternoon, you'll catch your onward flight home.
