Embark on a 15-day journey through the north and south of Laos, a landlocked country that offers something a little different to its Southeast Asian neighbours!

Beginning in Luang Prabang, you'll travel to Vang Vieng, Vientiane, Pakse, Don Khong and Champasak over two weeks with a local guide, covering all of Laos' must-sees. The trip will offer you a uniquely authentic experience filled with charming local people, ancient culture, and the wonderful simplicity of life here.

Today, you'll stroll through the vegetable market and arrive at the former royal palace, which is now a national museum. The charm of the city captivates with the mixture of parks, gardens and historical buildings, such as Wat Xieng Thong, which is one of the most beautiful temples of Laos. The impressive stupa of Wat Visun and Wat Aham are also on the tour. In the afternoon, you'll visit the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Center, climb Mount Phousi and finish with a stop at the night market.

This morning, you'll drive to the beautiful Kuang Si waterfalls. On the way, you will make a stop to explore villages of the Hmong and Khamu (Lao ethnic groups). The multiple-graded waterfall, with its turquoise blue water in the dry season, is perfect for a refreshing swim in the afternoon. On the way back to the city, you'll visit Ock Pop Tok, a living craft centre. Afterwards, you'll head back to Luang Prabang.

Today you will board a boat from which you can enjoy the beautiful landscape on the banks of the Mekong as you travel upstream. After about 1.5 hours drive, you will moor at the cave temple, Pak Ou. On the way back, you will stop in Ban Xanghai village, where a special kind of rice liquor is distilled, and in Ban Xang Khong and Ban Xienglek, two villages known for the production of handmade paper. Your final evening will be free to spend as you wish in Luang Prabang.

This morning, you'll leave Luang Prabang and drive to the small town of Vang Vieng. This city is known for its untouched nature and is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. On the way, you'll visit the village of Ban Nadao. Here, you'll enjoy a rural walk through lush green rice fields surrounded by towering mountains, providing a great backdrop for a photo. Upon arrival in Vang Vieng, you'll have the rest of the day free to explore.

After breakfast, you will cross the Nam Song and cycle to Tham Phou Kham Cave. The ascent to the entrance of Tham Phou Kham Cave is rewarded with great views. Next to the cave is the Blue Lagoon, where you can take a dip. Then, you'll visit the Hmong village Ban Naxom to get to know the culture of the locals. On the way back to Vang Vieng, you'll visit Tam Chang Cave. In the evening, you will board a longboat and go up the Nam Son to observe life along the shore.

Today, you'll leave Vang Vieng behind and drive to the capital, Vientiane. It is the largest city in Laos, but unlike the typical hectic cities of Southeast Asia, it has a very relaxed atmosphere. The rest of the afternoon is at your free disposal in the quiet capital. You could take a walk along the Mekong River to explore the night market and admire the sunset over the water.

Today, you'll visit the most important sights of the city: Wat Sisaket, where thousands of Buddha statues are kept and the former royal temple Wat Prakeo, which once housed the Jade Buddha. On the way to the gold-covered symbol of the city, That Luang, you'll stop at the victory monument, Phatuxay. Finally, you'll drive to the outskirts of the city and walk through the extensive Buddha Park. On the way back, you'll visit the COPE Visitor Centre and Talat Sao Shopping Mall.

After breakfast, you will be taken to the airport and fly to Pakse in the south of the country. Upon arrival in Pakse, you will drive to the Bolaven Highlands. You'll stop at a plantation for a short sightseeing tour and then continue to the spectacular Tad Fane Waterfalls. Three more waterfalls will follow, which will leave you in awe: Tad Champee, Tad Yeuang and Tad Phasuam. On the way back, you'll stop at Ban Lak 40 for a tea tasting before you arrive in Pakse for the night.

After breakfast, your journey continues through a beautiful landscape to Don Khong, one of the islands in the 4000 Islands landscape. On the way to Don Khong, you will visit the really impressive Khon Phapheng Waterfalls where you'll have time to relax and take photos. You'll then continue to Khong Island, or Don Khong as it's known, where you'll stay the night ready to explore the 4000 Islands the next day.

Today, you'll explore the island landscape of the 4000 Islands by boat and on foot. You will visit the Li Phi Waterfalls, and see the rare Irrawaddy freshwater dolphins that still live in the area. You will also see a locomotive, a railroad line and a bridge built by the French during the colonial period to safely bypass the rapids at this place and transport goods. Afterwards, you'll head back to Don Khong by boat.

After breakfast, you will drive north again to the small town of Champasak. In the early afternoon, you will visit the destroyed temple complex of the Khmer Wat Phou. In 2001, the complex was declared a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. From the top of the hill, the view is especially good! The rest of the day is free to spend as you wish.
