Paro to Thimphu and Free Time

Your flight to Paro will be a memorable flight with the most dramatic scenery of the Himalayas. Our staff will meet you and we will drive to Thimphu. On the way, you can stop to see the famous iron chain bridge. After check-in, you can get your first feel of Thimphu and have a stroll around the Craft Bazaar.

Thimphu Valley Sightseeing and Move to Punakha

Today you will spend seeing Thimphu Valley. Thimphu has many things to see so it's better to start a little bit early to get the best of the local experience as everyone comes out for their daily shop. One of the highlights of today will be your visit to the Simply Bhutan museum. Later in the afternoon, you will move to Punakha, one of the most beautiful valleys.

River Rafting and Drive from Punakha to Paro

Few rivers are suitable for rafting in Bhutan but you are lucky today, as one is located in Punakha. This exhilarating adventure will be one of the highlights of your Bhutan holiday. You'll visit a few key locations in Punakha after rafting. Later in the afternoon, you will drive to Paro. You might enjoy a hot-stone bath, which is unique to Bhutan when you arrive.

Taktsang Hike

Today you will hike up to Taktsang Monastery. Perched some 3900m on a cliff overlooking the valley, this is one of Bhutan’s wonders and an absolute must-see. Tragically wrecked in a fire early in 1998, it has been rebuilt to its original glory. It is said that the legendary Indian saint, Guru Padma Sambhava, flew from Tibet on the back of a tigress to tame five demons, who were opposing the spread of Buddhism in Bhutan in 746 A.D. Hence, the name, Taktshang, “Tiger’s Nest”.
