Visitors can explore the Civil Rights Room at the public library, visit the Davidson County Courthouse where desegregation efforts gained momentum, and view the Witness Walls showcasing key civil rights events. Upon arrival, collect your rental car (not included) and make your way to your hotel.

Drive to Little Rock

Drive to Money, Mississippi to see the remains of Bryant’s Grocery, where 14-year-old Emmett Till was falsely accused in 1955, leading to his brutal murder—an event that galvanized the civil rights movement. Then visit the Tallahatchie Courthouse in Sumner, site of the trial where his killers were acquitted. Continue driving south to Jackson where you will overnight.

Selma was the starting point of the 1965 voting rights marches, including the violent “Bloody Sunday.” National outrage led President Johnson to support the movement and pass the Voting Rights Act. Thousands marched from Selma to Montgomery, a route now a National Historic Trail.

Montgomery, where Rosa Parks sparked the 1955 Bus Boycott, remained central to the civil rights movement. It is home to the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church, where Martin Luther King Jr. preached. Overnight in Montgomery.
