Overview

This 13-day trip will show you some amazing highlights in Nepal such as the Kathmandu Valley, the Annapurna Khopra Ridge, and the Khair Trek.

The Khair Trek, also known as the Khopra Ridge Trek, is a short trek, which will take you through rarely trodden path known as Yak trail, passing traditional villages, small settlements, lush forests, the picturesque viewpoint of Khopra Ridge and the blessed Khaire Baraha Lake (4,500 metres). The walk to Lake Khair is lengthy and demanding with some ice-covered streams to traverse, but rewarded with awe-inspiring views of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Mana Pathi Peak, Tukuche Peak, Dampus Peak, Annapurna South, Annapurna IV, III, Fish-tail, Himchuli, Lamjung Himal and more.

Every year the ‘Khun Khane festival’, blood-drinking of yak, is celebrated here. The Khair Trek starts from either Nayapul or Phedi, reaching the top of the tree line at Kopra Danda, ‘Skull Hill’, with outstanding views. On your return trek to Pokhara, you'll pass Poon Hill viewpoint, famous for the views of the Annapurna Range.

The enjoyable tranquil Annapurna Khyair Lake Trek will take you through rhododendron forests, with sights of some amazing wildlife and vegetation and pass long-established settlements of Magar and Gurung settlements.
