Upon arrival to Chichen Itza, a specialised guide will give you a detailed tour of the site, enjoying the quiet of the morning visit before the crowds. Throughout the tour, your guide will provide essential archaeological background to understand the history of Chichen Itza better.

Discover how this large pre-Columbian city played an important role in the Mayan civilisation around 600 AD to 1200 and remained a centre of worship and pilgrimage until the arrival of the Spaniards. Even today, it is still considered sacred by the Maya people of the Yucatán Peninsula site.

Today, you will set out on your own and catch the bus from Cancun to Tulum. Although the bus fare is included, you will need to make your way to the Cancun bus station. This will give you the perfect opportunity to see the beautiful Mexican coastal scenery pass by.

Today, you will take another bus journey, hugging the eastern coast of Mexico. Travelling from the town of Tulum, you will arrive at the coastal border town of Chetumal. From Chetumal, you will cross the Mexican/Belize border and catch a boat from the Belize town of Corozal to the coral island of Caye Caulker.

Today, you will enjoy a once in a lifetime opportunity to snorkel alongside some of nature's most majestic creatures. Surrounded by the world's second-biggest reef, you'll become one with the water and swim with sharks and rays. Known the world over as a water-exploration hotspot, your time spent in the warm waters of Caye Caulker is one you won't forget in a hurry!

Today is another day of exploration and unforgettable travelling stories. First, you will catch a ferry from the island of Caye Caulker to the nation's capital of Belize City. From the capital, you will then catch a bus to the Guatemalan town of Flores - another tick off your Central American location list!

You will depart Flores at 4:30 am for your early morning experience at Tikal archaeological site. You will walk among giant pyramids towering over 200 feet at dawn to feel the magical vibration of Tikal and its historic splendour. You will listen to the jungle sounds of exotic birds, monkeys and small mammals and feel the humid jungle air on your skin as the Maya inhabitants of this site felt it 2000 years ago. Immerse yourself in the jungle at dawn for an early morning tour through the archaeological site to experience the jungle come alive as it wakes up at sunrise, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get in touch with nature and marvel at the majestic pyramids hidden away in the jungle.

Today, you will be picked up at your accommodation for your shuttle transfer to Lanquin, where you’ll be dropped off at your next accommodation/meeting point.

Rising early from your humble bed, you will then set out for a day of hiking and exploration. As you make your way through the caves of Kanba, you will be taken back in time to an era of ancient Mayan rituals and feel one with the natural rock formations that surround you. Later on, you will enjoy some free time to swim and go river tubing in the crystalline waters of Semuc Champey, where there are natural pools filled with fresh mountain spring water above a 300-meter long limestone bridge. Flowing underneath the bridge is the Cahabón River, where you will have time to swim in the cool waters in a beautiful natural surrounding immersed in native flora and fauna.

Today, you will enjoy another long but illuminating journey through the heart of Guatemala. You will catch a bus and wind your way from the town of Lanquin to Antigua.

You will get up close and personal with an active volcano and brag to your friends about it. You will hike up the Pacaya Volcano slope for two hours and then trek onto dry lava that resembles a moon-like landscape. Look up to catch an eruption from the active volcano if you're lucky (depending on the activity of the volcano you may or may not see eruptions or lava). You will take unforgettable photos in a landscape so surreal that you feel like you are walking on the moon. You'll admire the breathtaking landscape and views of neighbouring volcanoes peeking through the clouds around you. Take your time returning to the base of the mountain as you make your way down the slippery, muddy slopes.

Getting to the last few days in Guatemala, you will make your way from Antigua to Panajachel via a short bus journey. Winding up the mountain roads, you will arrive at Panajachel on the edge of the majestic Lake Atitlán. From here, you will then make your way to the village of San Jorge La Laguna, where you will begin a two-day homestay with a traditional Maya family.
