You'll follow this with a journey to the marvellous city of Mandalay where more ancient sites such as world's biggest book, Shwenandaw Monastery, U Bein Bridge and interesting traditional workshops await you.

Day 1

Arrive in Yangon & Sightseeing Tour

Start your Myanmar local tour by transferring to your hotel after being picked up from the airport. You will be taken for a full-day city tour after a short rest. Starting at the Botahtaung Pagoda, you'll take a walking tour along the colonial area ending at the Indian district. Then, you will proceed to visit the reclining Buddha named Chauk Htat Gyi. You'll finish your day enjoying the sunset at Shwedagon Pagoda.

Golden Rock Pilgrimage Site Visit

You'll depart Yangon early this morning for the five-hour journey to Kyaikhtiyo also called the Golden Rock, a huge boulder covered by gold leaf and balancing on the edge of a cliff. Golden Rock is one of Myanmar's main pilgrimage sites. Near the base camp, you'll have lunch at a local restaurant. From the base camp, you'll travel by local open-air truck to the junction camp which is then a 30-minute walk to the Golden Rock (a porter will carry your bag).

Journey Back to Yangon via Bago City

Journey Back to Yangon via Bago City

After breakfast, you'll return to the base camp by open-air truck and begin the return journey back to Yangon. En route, you'll stop in Bago, also known as Pegu. The sites in Bago are spread out around the town and you’ll spend time exploring and learning about the history and myths of the city. From Bago, you’ll continue to Yangon. Before reaching the city limits, you'll stop in Htaukkyan township to visit the Allied War Cemetery.

After early breakfast, you'll transfer to the airport for the flight to Heho. From Heho, a scenic one-hour drive leads to Nyaung Shwe, the gateway village to Inle Lake. Along the way, you'll stop at the wooden Shwe Yan Pyay Monastery which features beautiful carvings and a collection of Buddha images. Upon reaching Inle Lake, you'll board a private boat for a lake cruise. You will visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, observe the leg-rowing fishermen and their daily lifestyle, local workshops.

Begin the day with a visit to Inle Lake’s morning market. The market rotates around the lake so as to be accessible to lake inhabitants and surrounding hill tribes who come to sell and trade their wares. You will also visit the Pa-oh village of Indein. You'll stroll through the village, visiting a local school and the beautiful Alaung Sitthou area. After enjoying your visit to Indein, you'll return to your boat and then your hotel.

This morning, you'll enjoy breakfast and a leisurely morning at your hotel. Around midday, you'll transfer to Heho Airport for the 1.5-hour flight to Mandalay to continue on this local tour in Myanmar. Upon arrival, your car and guide will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel. Once you have checked in, you'll then have the afternoon and evening free to relax after reflect on your Myanmar tour so far.

After breakfast at the hotel, you'll depart for a tour of Mandalay to explore the former capitals of Ava, Sagaing and Amarapura. You'll visit a silk weaving workshop which produces exquisite handmade products and Mahagandayon monastery, home to over one thousand monks. Then, you'll continue on for a stroll across the 200-year-old, teak U Bein Bridge. Just over one kilometre in length, it is the world’s longest teak span. Then, you'll return to your hotel.

Boat Cruise to Mingun

Boat Cruise to Mingun

After breakfast, you'll transfer to the Mandalay jetty and board a private local boat for a one-hour cruise on the Irrawaddy River to Mingun. Here, you'll visit the unfinished Mingun Pahtodawqyi, Hsinbyume Pagoda and the Mingun Bell, the world’s largest bell. You'll then return to Mandalay by boat with lunch served. Next, you'll visit Mahamuni Pagoda and continue your tour with a visit to Kuthodaw Pagoda, the teak Shwenandaw Monastery and then head to Mandalay Hill to watch the sunset.

This morning, you'll take a three-hour drive to Monywa, a typical Burmese town on the banks of the Chindwin River. You'll reach Monywa at midday and check into the hotel. After lunch, you'll visit Thanboddhay Pagoda, with more than 500,000 Buddha images, and Boditahtaung Pagoda which houses the largest reclining Buddha image in Myanmar. You'll then continue to the second-largest standing Buddha in the world, Laykyun Setkyar. Then, you'll head to the banks of the river to watch the sunset.

Today, you will travel one hour by car to Po Win Taung, consisting of 947 sandstone caves and Shwe Ba Taung, where monasteries and temples are carved out rocky narrow cliffs. You'll then travel another 90 minutes to Kyet Su Kin village for an opportunity to learn more about the lifestyle. Then, you'll continue to Pakokku, arriving in time for lunch at a local restaurant. Then, you'll take a private local boat in Pakkoku for a cruise down to Bagan where you'll be transferred to your hotel.

Today starts at an elevated temple with spectacular views over the surrounding plains. You will visit Ananda Temple, Myinkaba Village and Gubyaukgyi Temple. Nearby is Manuha Temple and Nan Paya Temple. You'll learn about the local culture in the two workshops: lacquerware and wood crafts. After a break for lunch, in the afternoon, you'll take horse and cart ride through the temple area, fields and houses. You'll stop at an elevated temple to watch the sunset over the plains.
