Embark on a journey around the most stunning parts of southern Italy on this two-week Rome, Amalfi Coast and Puglia tour!

Beginning in Rome, you'll explore the finest monuments of this historic city before moving on to Naples where you'll spend a large part of your trip exploring the ancient city of Pompeii, the island of Capri and the stunning Amalfi Coast.

After Naples, you'll move onto your Puglia tour during which you'll explore the towns of Lecce, Ostuni and Alberobello. After falling in love with the heel of the boot of Italy, you'll travel to the stunning coastal city of Salerno before returning to Rome!

This morning, you'll enjoy a guided tour of the Vatican Museum and the splendid Sistine Chapel, home of a beautiful ceiling painted by Michelangelo between 1508 and 1512 - a masterpiece of High Renaissance art. Then for lunch, you'll make your own pizza and eat it! In the afternoon, you can take a walk in one of the most vibrant areas of Rome, Trastevere, a maze of small streets and squares dotted by bars and restaurants. In the early evening, you'll catch a train to Naples.

Several villas built by the ancient Romans can be found in Positano close to the Church dell'Assunta. Amalfi dates back to the time of the struggle between the Romans and the barbarian population and is a wonderful town to explore.

Ostuni is known as the White City because of the characteristic colour of its houses. The historic centre of Ostuni, defined by its inhabitants "La Terra", was once entirely painted with white lime, which is only partly preserved today. The houses climb on the steep slopes of a hill and the village is characterised by winding streets, a succession of small squares, alleys and courtyards. After exploring Ostuni, you'll continue to Alberobello to stay in one of the quaint Trullo houses.

Today, you'll continue your Puglia tour to Alberobello, a small UNESCO World Heritage inland village renowned for its historic centre of interesting white cone-roofed houses which have made its landscape unique and one of the most interesting in Italy. These limestone dwellings are remarkable examples of prehistoric buildings in this region. They feature two layers of walls to provide insulation, a gutter system to collect rainwater and fireplaces and ovens built into the walls.

In the morning, you'll catch the bus to Vietri sul Mare, near Salerno. The local artcraft is maiolica, a type of pottery used all over the world to decorate kitchens and bathrooms. This morning, you'll attend a clay workshop before having some free time to explore Vietri sul Mare. Later, you'll catch the bus to the train station and then catch a train back to Rome, where you began this wonderful Amalfi Coast and Puglia tour.
