Day 1

Hanoi Arrival

Upon arrival at Noi Bai International Airport, you are welcomed by our guide and transferred to the hotel. Visit the Museum of Ethnology, displaying artefacts of 54 minority groups, and continue to the Old Quarter of Hanoi for a cyclo ride around streets named after the specific goods once sold. Stop at Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple to learn about the legends of the lake. Later at night, enjoy a walking food tour through Dong Xuan Market and Thanh Ha Market.

Day 2

Ba Be National Park

After breakfast, travel to Ba Be National Park through Thai Nguyen Province. Stop on the way to see a tea plantation and the beautiful scenery of mountains. After 5 hours, you arrive at the park. Check in your homestay and have lunch. In the afternoon, take a bicycle to the Tay village of Coc Toc, with its beautiful stilt houses and friendly Tay people, who make a living by fishing in Ba Be and farming. Ride further to Hua Ma Cave to see the thousands of stalactites and columns inside.

Ba Be Boating and Trekking

After breakfast, board a boat around Ba Be Lake. As you float down the Nang River, take in the scenery of the surrounding karsts, wild vegetation and all sorts of interesting creatures. Look out for butterflies that flit across the sky and listen to the songs of birds. Stop at Puong Cave to explore stalactites and stalagmites and look out for a bat colony. In the afternoon, hike to a H' Mong village. Your guide will take you through the mountains and valleys to visit another H' Mong village.

Ba Be to Hanoi

In the morning, you will have time to explore Ba Be National Park in your own way. You may wish to take a bicycle to explore the surrounding villages or go on a morning kayaking trip with your guide. You can also go for a long way through the forest to learn more about the flora and fauna of the park. After lunch, we take the road back to Hanoi, arriving in the city in the early evening. You can explore the Old Quarter a little for a drink and some dinner.

Begin Your Halong Bay Cruise

Take 3-hour drive to Hai Phong to board your cruise. You have a warm welcome by the captain and his crew with drink and some refreshing towels.You have a brief introduction about the boat and safety regulations before lunch as we make our way to Halong Bay. We arrive at the Surprise Cave area, where you can go kayaking or on a bamboo boat. Sunset happy hour offers another chance to enjoy this magnificent bay. You'll watch a cooking demonstration to learn about Vietnamese cuisine before dinner.

Day 6

Cat Ba Island and Train to Lao Cai

Cat Ba Island and Train to Lao Cai

Wake up early to start the day with Tai Chi on the sundeck. After breakfast, take a bus on Cat Ba Island to visit Army Hospital Cave, a special place during the American War. On the way, enjoy the wild fresh nature of Cat Ba. Have lunch while cruising back to the harbour to return to Hanoi. You will have time to explore the Old Quarter with our guide or visit Hilton Prison or the Temple of Literature. Check into a hotel for a shower and time to relax. At 8 pm board a night train to Lao Cai.

Lao Chai and Ta Van Villages

Arrive early and transfer to your lodge for breakfast. Then drive to Y Linh Ho Village where you walk along a dirt trail past vegetable gardens and rice paddies as you enter the spectacular Muong Hoa Valley. Keep hiking until you reach Lao Chai village of Black H' Mong; you'll stop here to visit a local house for lunch. Then, follow the dirt path to Ta Van, the only village of the Giay minority. The day will finish with a trek to Giang Ta Chai of Red Dzao before returning to the lodge.

After breakfast, you will be free at your lodge to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Hoang Lien Son Mountain. In the afternoon, you will go to the Silver Waterfall where you will learn about local legends and then continue to Fansipan. You take the cable car to a viewpoint on the mountain - the highest peak in Indochina. Fanxipan cable car is the world’s longest three-rope cable car system, extending from the northern Sapa Town to Fansipan peak.

After breakfast, go to a Hill tribe market deep in Sapa's valleys. We will visit the big outdoor market with its colourful fabrics made by the ethnic minority people, such as the Flower H' Mong, Phu La and Dao Tuyen, who gather here to buy and sell their handicraft products. After visiting the market, you have time for lunch. Then, go back to Lao Cai city. You’re picked up by a limousine shuttle bus to travel back to Hanoi.

Travel to Hoi An

After breakfast, you go to the airport to catch your morning flight to Danang. A car will be waiting to transfer you to Hoi An, just 30 minutes away. Relax in your hotel for a little before you take a guided walking tour around Hoi An Ancient Town. Visit the Japanese Covered Bridge, the Chinese Assembly Hall, and the local market. There are numerous art galleries, souvenir and tailor shops where you can get some express made-to-order clothes if you like!

This countryside tour will give you an insight into local life. We ride over the bridge to Cam Kim island to a traditional boat builders yard before exploring the sleepy island villages. Zig-zag through the breathtaking scenery of rice paddies and learn from local families about mat weaving, farming, and how to make the perfect Banh Dap rice crackers. After snacking, head to the Thu Bon river mouth. Finally, cross the new bridge offering spectacular panoramic views of Hoi An to Cam Thanh.

From Hoi An to Mekong

Transferred to the airport to fly to Ho Chi Minh City. You’re met by our guide and taken to the Mekong Delta. When you arrive in Cai Be, take a boat to the Mekong Lodge. Lunch is in a nice restaurant with a Vietnamese day-menu. In the afternoon, you'll on a bike tour around the area near the lodge to see the countryside of the Mekong and visit Kim Phuoc Pagoda. In the evening, watch a cooking demonstration before dinner in the restaurant. The riverside bars are open until midnight.

Wake up early for breakfast before taking the boat to Cai Be market, you'll also visit some handicraft villages. Relax back at the lodge before lunch. Then take a bike to Tan Phong island where you'll visit more local handicraft workshops and see a handmade banana leaves hammock, thatched from water coconut leaves. You can also taste some local fruit while listening to Vietnamese folk music. Back at the lodge, learn how to carve fruits or carrots before dinner in the restaurant.

After breakfast, the boat will take you to Cai Be harbour, where a car is waiting for you to go to Ho Chi Minh City. Rest a little, then visit the Reunification Palace, former residence of the Indochina Governor-General and President of the Republic of Southern Vietnam until the fall of Saigon in April 30, 1975. Then, continue to visit the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Central Post Office, Jade Emperor Pagoda, Walking street of Nguyen Hue, Opera House, and the bustling Ben Thanh Market.
