Arrive at the airport of Siem Reap. Here you will already be welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel in downtown Siem Reap. In the afternoon, a guide will take you to the temples and on a leisurely boat trip across the moat of Angkor Thom to watch the sunset while observing the ancient Khmer water systems. Relax with a drink in your hand and admire the unique architecture.
In the evening watch the famous Phare Circus, known far beyond the borders of Cambodia.

Don't forget to set your alarm clock to see the sunrise over Angkor Wat! You'll arrive just in time for a spectacular explosion of colour! Visit the ruins of Baphuon, the Royal Enclosure and Phimeanakas before heading to Bayon Temple, explore the galleries where stone faces smile at you from every angle. Then explore Ta Prohm famous for its interplay of massive tree roots and temple ruins. In the evening, dine with a local family. If you wish, you can help the family with cooking.

Today you will visit the large freshwater lake Tonle Sap. Here fishing is one of the biggest sources of income in the region. During a boat tour along the shore, we can admire the famous stilt houses of Cambodia close up and take impressive photos. In the afternoon, visit the famous temples of Banteay Srei and Banteay Samre, just outside of Siem Reap. Then return to Siem Reap. Tonight, there is a special performance by Apsara dancers to introduce you to this art form over dinner.

Day 4

Rise early for the overland trip to Kratie, home of the rare Irrawaddy freshwater dolphins. Your journey will take most of the day. When you arrive in Kratie, take a small ferry to Koh Trong Island in the middle of the Mekong River opposite the city. You'll head out on a 9-kilometre long route that takes you past small villages and fertile fields, and introduces you to the daily life on the island.

In the morning you will be brought to Kampi where with a little luck, you can see the very rare river dolphins. On the way there we stop at the hill temple Phnom Sambok, where there is a fantastic view over the region. Here you can take part in a monk blessing giving you luck and protection for the journey. Afterwards, continue to Mondulkiri province. Here we check in to our jungle lodge in the Elephant Valley Project - a unique place where animals are kept in a species-appropriate way.

At 7 am we meet in Sen Monorom to go to the elephant camp. Here you will get a short introduction before we go into the forest to see the elephants. Spend time with the elephants and then hike back to the camp for lunch. In the afternoon you will have a little break then help out with some volunteer activities. Then you go back to the forest with the elephants. Enjoy dinner at the camp before lights out at 9 pm when the generators are switched off.

After breakfast, start your city tour with the Royal Palace, the last of the French colonial period. The same complex houses the Silver Pagoda, named after the over 5,000 heavy silver plates that adorn the floor. Your sightseeing tour continues to the National Museum and the Ecole des Arts Cambodia. After lunch, the somewhat darker side of Cambodian history. We visit the Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng Prison, which remind us of the horrible genocide across the country.

Today an exciting guided tour through Phnom Penh to the most famous buildings in the city. We will follow the designs of the famous architect Vann Molivann, see the Olympic Stadium and the Royal University of Phnom Penh. Then visit Phsar Thmey, the Central Market, with its unique colonial-style building and dome dating back to 1937. Immerse yourself in the lively market life. In the evening enjoy a sunset cruise on the Tonle Sap and Mekong Rivers and a show at the National Museum of Cambodia.

Leave early to drive to Sihanoukville on Cambodia's coast from Phnom Penh. You'll arrive in time to catch the boat to Koh Rong, a one hour boat that will take you straight to your hotel just moments from Pagoda Beach pier. You'll arrive around late afternoon with some time to relax at your new beachside location.

You'll have breakfast at the hotel and be free to relax a little more before it's time to depart. Transfer by speedboat from Koh Rong Island at 11 am to the port of Sihanoukville about 60 minutes away.
On arrival in Sihanoukville, the driver will take you to Phnom Penh, the drive takes around five hours, you'll head straight to the airport.
