Overview
This three-day immersive trip will take you from Mexicos' Magic Town of Creel at 2,300 metres through four different canyons and three climate zones into the subtropical Magic Town of Batopilas just 400 metres above sea level.
Batopilas is an old silver mining village from the 17th century that was the second town in all of Mexico to get electricity. Your historian guide will tell you about the dramatic history of this old village, including the stories of the old 'Silver Trail' that was used by mule trains to bring silver out of the canyons and into the banks in Chihuahua City.
You'll even be able to walk along a section of that old SilverTtrail along the aqueduct, where tropical birds nest. There will be a stop to view Lake Arareko, San Ignacio Mission, Cusarare Waterfall and the rock formations in the San Ignacio Valley.
This trip is a great way to see a wonderful portion of this canyon region!

Day 1
Begin Your Mexico Magic Town Three-Day Experience

Today you'll be driven from Mexico's Magic Town of Creel at 2,300 metres, descending through four different canyons and three climate zones to the Magic Town of Batopilas at 400 metres above sea level. You'll enjoy a full day of canyon viewing with stops for photos, a deluxe picnic lunch in the canyon and some sightseeing along the way, including the Cusarare Waterfall. You'll arrive at your lodge in Batopilas in the late afternoon.

Day 2
Batopilas Sightseeing & Aqueduct Walk

This morning, you are off to visit the Lost Cathedral of Satevo, just eight kilometres from Batopilas. You'll have lunch in town independently, and enjoy a visit to the ruins of the Hacienda San Miguel, the Batopilas Museum and a walk along the old aqueduct, which was part of the Silver Trail and where tropical birds nest. Alternatively, you can have the afternoon off to rest and relax. You may also like to visit the Batopilas Museum to learn about this interesting old silver mining village.

Day 3
End of Batopilas Three-Day Experience & Return to Upper Sierra

Your private guide will drive you up through four different canyons to the upper sierra, stopping for photos and some sightseeing along the way. You'll visit the San Ignacio Valley to see the rock formations and Lake Arareko. You'll arrive back to the Magic Town of Creel in time for a late lunch on your own.
