Overview
Winter is the best season to travel to Alta in Northern Norway. Spend an adventure out of the ordinary, snuggled warm under comfortable reindeer-hides and in sleeping bags at the Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel.
Also included in the tour is a reindeer sledding and Sami culture experience. Other optional winter activities such as dog sledding can be added. During the dim arctic afternoon twilight, you will drive into the forest along the riverbanks of the Alta River. Enjoy the nature and the silence of the forest, while driving with the dogs. You might even spot a moose or other wildlife along the way!

Day 1
Alta Free Time and Dog Sledding Tour

Arrival in Alta, Finnmark county, in Northern Norway. The small town of Alta is the largest town in Finnmark and offers the view of the northern lights, mountains, Sami culture, reindeer and UNESCO-protected rock carvings. This is the perfect location for an exotic winter adventure, with the possibility to join snowmobile safaris, dog-sledding excursions and much more.

Day 2
Reindeer Sledding and Sami Experience

In the morning, you will be picked up at your hotel and start your 1.5-hour reindeer sledding and Sami experience. In your free time, you can borrow sleds, kick sleds and snowshoes, or go for a walk. In the evening, a 3-course dinner will be served in the beautiful wooden restaurant Laksestua shaped like a Sami Lavvo. After that, it is time to settle into the Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel. You will spend the night under comfortable reindeer-hides and in warm sleeping bags.

Sauna and Departure
Hide details
Warm-up before breakfast by visiting the sauna which is heated every morning at 7 am. Transfer back to the centre of Alta or book transfer to the airport. It is possible to add an extra night or do other winter activities such as a dog sledding or a snowmobile tour before you leave.
