Trip Overview

Delve into the Scottish Highlands with this three-day tour. Departing from Edinburgh, you will make your way via St Andrews and Dunnoter Castle to Aberdeen, the oil capital of Scotland - with its busy harbour and rich fishing history.

Your trip to the Scottish Highlands will continue through the beautiful Cairngorm National Park and onto the famous Glenlivet distillery. You will continue the scenic drive, past Loch Ness and onto Aberfeldy.

Your final day will include a memorable horseback ride through the Highland countryside. A final whisky tasting will be enjoyed at Dewar before making your way back to Edinburgh.

Itinerary

Day 1

Edinburgh to Banchory

Together with your guide, you will depart from Edinburgh and head north on your trip to the Scottish Highlands. The first stop of the day will be in St Andrews, where you will have time to look around and explore. The cathedral and the castle are both worth a visit. You will then continue on through Dundee. You will stop at Dunnotor Castle before finally arriving in Aberdeen. You will stay overnight at the Douglas Arms.

Today, you'll head west into the Cairngorms National Park and our first stop will be a visit to the famous Glenlivet Distillery to see how the amber nectar is made and sample their wares. Following this, you'll go to the capital of the Highlands, Inverness, before heading south along the banks of the world-famous Loch Ness and perhaps a sight of ‘Nessie’ the loch’s monster. Next, you'll journey through stunning Highland scenery towards Blair Castle before arriving at Fernbank House.

Day 3

Aberfeldy to Edinburgh

The day starts with a memorable two-hour horseback ride through the beautiful Highland Perthshire countryside. From there, you will head to Dewars, for an hour's tour and tasting. You will then continue back towards Edinburgh but along an incredibly scenic route. You will go up to Glen Lyon, past the Falls of Dochart and the castle and monuments of Stirling. The last stop of the day will be at the 'Kelpies' before hopping on the motorway and returning to Edinburgh.
