Overview
Embark on a self-drive journey from Perth to the surrounding coastal towns of Fremantle and Scarborough as well as the island of Rottnest!
With self drive options, you can explore this wonderful part of Western Australia with the freedom to choose what you do each day and where you go. After beginning your trip in Perth, you'll head to Rottnest Island, a beautiful natural reserve, where you'll be 'glamping' Rottnest in an eco-tent on the beach.
Next, you'll travel back to the mainland and spend your final few days exploring Perth, Fremantle and Scarborough and all they have to offer.

Day 1
Welcome to Perth

Today, you'll arrive at Perth airport where you will be met by your private transfer to your accommodation in the heart of Perth. The Adina Apartment Hotel Perth Barrack Plaza is central to explore all Perth has to offer. After checking in, you'll have the rest of the afternoon and evening free to explore the city on your own.

Day 2
Travel to Rottnest Island by Ferry and Explore by Bicycle

Today, you'll walk from your hotel to the wharf to catch your ferry to Rottnest Island. Upon arrival, it is recommended that you hire and bicycle and snorkelling gear to explore the island properly. Over the course of the day, you'll discover Rottnest Island by bicycle and experience over 63 beaches and 20 bays as you explore this unique destination. As Rottnest Island has essentially no cars, cycling is one of the best ways to get around the Island.

Explore Rottnest Island at Leisure

Today, you'll have the opportunity to explore Rottnest Island at your leisure. There are plenty of activities on offer on the island. You may want to hire bicycles again and explore the sights, or you can hop on a Segway and enjoy a guided tour of the island on these unique vehicles. Another option is the Grand Tour of Rottnest Island, during which you can travel by air-conditioned vehicle to all of the most popular sights of the island over four hours.

Day 4
Rottnest Island to Fremantle and Scarborough

After checking out, you'll make your way to the ferry terminal which is 900 metres from your accommodation and take the 30-minute trip to Fremantle. Upon arrival in Fremantle, you'll collect your rental car and make your way to your accommodation in Scarborough.

Your day is free today to explore Scarborough, Fremantle and the surrounding destinations. If you're up for the two-hour drive, you can head to the Pinnacles Desert Discovery Centre and walk on the moonscape of the Pinnacles, feast on fresh lobster and surf giant sand dunes. Sitting in the yellow sands of the Pinnacles Desert, a sight to behold in Western Australia, the building blends with its environment perfectly.

Free Day in Scarborough

Today, you'll have the day free to explore Scarborough, Fremantle and Perth if you wish. During your free time in Scarborough, you can enjoy the beach, the pool and the many restaurants. Alternatively, you can take a day trip by car to the Swan river wine-growing areas. When you hear of Scarborough Beach Pool, you should know it is is much more than just a swimming pool and is the perfect way to spend the day here.
