Overview

Valletta, an intact city-fortress, which preserves two works by Caravaggio in its Cathedral; the megalithic temples of Gozo that were believed to have been built by giants, and the mysterious Hypogeum of Hal Saflieni, the only underground prehistoric temple in the world. These wonders of Malta only scratch the surface of the history of the archipelago, which is waiting to be discovered on this one-week trip.

Inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List is Valletta with its 320 historic monuments situated within an area of 55 hectares. It was ruled successively by the Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs and the Order of the Knights of St John, and is inextricably linked to military history and charitable Order of St John of Jerusalem. Today, you visit the Grand Master’s Palace, the impressive St John’s Co-Cathedral and the National Museum of Archaeology.

M'dina and Rabat Tour with Hypogeum

M'dina was home of the Maltese noble families. Today, there are about 400 residents and life is quiet. A day in M'dina will show you its architectural marvels such as the cathedral. Rabat is in the south of the island and is an important religious centre. For centuries, Rabat has hosted convents of Dominican, Augustinian and Franciscan friars who still live here today. Finish the day at the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum, the only underground prehistoric temple in the world, dating back to 3600 BC.

Gozo and Comino Islands Tour

Bejn il-kmiemen, in the Maltese blue lagoon on the island of Comino and deserves a day. Imagine a bright bay, overlooking transparent waters full of fish, white sand, and shallow waters. Travel to Malta’s two smaller islands, Gozo and Comino, on this full-day boat tour. Cruise along the rugged coastline to reach the Crystal and Blue lagoons with their turquoise waters and ideal swimming and snorkelling spots. Then explore the island of Gozo to see its key landmarks such as Victoria and Xlendi.
