Day 2

Delhi Sightseeing Tour

After breakfast, you will go out sightseeing. Begin with Old Delhi, where you will visit the Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India; Chandni Chowk, the oldest markets in Delhi. Take a rickshaw ride to the Red Fort, from here you will go to Raj Ghat, a memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. Have lunch and then go to New Delhi to visit Humayun’s Tomb, India Gate, the President’s House and Parliament Street. Lastly, visit Qutub Minar, a 240-feet tall minaret with an amazing mix of architecture.

Delhi to Agra

After breakfast, drive to Agra. This city is special because it is home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Taj Mahal, and Agra Fort. Check into the hotel and go sightseeing, starting with the Agra Fort, which is a much better-preserved version of the Red Fort in Delhi; made of red sandstone and white marble. Then visit Taj Mahal at sunset, the best time to witness this magnificent monument. It was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his loving wife, Mumtaz.

After breakfast, take a jeep up to Amer Fort. Built in the 16th century, Amer Fort sit on the Aravalli Hills which bears importance to Indian history. Later, visit the City Palace where the Maharajah resides. Then, visit the Jantar Mantar Observatory, the largest stone observatory in the world. Finish the day driving past the Hawa Mahal to the colourful markets of Jaipur, bapu bazaar. Women will get an opportunity to drape in a saree and men will experience traditional turban tieing.

Early morning before breakfast, go for a boat ride on the River Ganges. Your tour starts in Sarnath where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon; a historical spectacle. Then, move on to the New Vishwanath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Visit Tulsi Manasa Temple, dedicated to Lord Rama, and then Durga Temple, one of the main temples in the city dedicated to Goddess Durga. In the evening you will watch the Ganga Aart and observe the many pilgrims perform prayers and light the aartis.

Train to Delhi
