Beginning and ending in Perth, this wine and nature trip takes you on the lesser-known route in Australia's southwest.
Hopping between vineyards and forests, over a week, you'll drive around the southwest, tasting your way around this stunning part of the country. Day 1
Arrive in Perth and Drive to Fremantle

When you arrive in Perth, you'll pick up your car and head straight out of the city to Fremantle. After reaching your hotel and checking in, you'll have the rest of the day free to relax.

Today, you'll have the option to go on a wine tour to learn about Margaret's famous wines. Discover how Cape Mentelle put Margaret River on the world wine map on a personal introduction to their oldest vineyard and working winery. The highlight of your day will be a hosted food and wine matching experience, which is served inside the Cabernet Sauvignon barrel room. Discover a select few wineries producing outstanding wines with highly personalised experiences and taste more than 20 wines.

This morning, you'll leave for Pemberton to make sure you have the day to relax in this forested paradise. A nature lovers paradise, there is no end to what you can do here. Whether you want to go kayaking or hiking or be wined and dined in style, you'll find it in Pemberton, known as the baby of Australia's wine regions.

Beach and Bush then Albany

You'll depart Pemberton at 9 am for Warren National Park with explanations about the farmland vistas viewable from the comfort of your seat. On entering the D'Entrecasteaux National Park, you'll stop to stretch your legs at Dead Man’s Lake to learn about its history. Then, you'll explore the largest landlocked sand dune system in the southern hemisphere. You'll return to the lake for lunch in a bush setting before returning to civilisation at around 1 pm. Then, you'll drive to Albany.

Your day is free today, there are many places that you could drive around to explore the region. A top choice is the Valley of the Giants treetop walk which takes you through a forest of the tallest trees in the world to look out across the canopy of timber trees that are endemic to this region. Other options include Albany's historic whaling station and the Granite Skywalk.
