Upon arrival in Zagreb, a private transfer will take you to your hotel in Zagreb centre. You'll check-in and have some time to freshen up before heading out to take a walk around Zagreb. The Croatian capital is in many ways an exceptional city. Zagreb offers its guests the Baroque atmosphere of the Upper Town, a picturesque open market, green parks, and promenades, but also superb culinary delights and an exciting nightlife.

With four fortresses and numerous steps in the historic centre, this will seem less like sightseeing and more like an urban hiking tour. Take along walkway past the St. Nicholas Fortress. A very special stop is the Cathedral of St.James, the only cathedral in Europe that is made entirely of stone. After the tour, travel to Makarska, a small harbour town in the beautiful peninsula of St. Peter and Cape Osejava. It served as a shelter for sailors in the past if they got caught in stormy weather.

You could swim to the most beautiful beach in Europe, Stiniva Cove on island Vis and relax at the lagoon of Budikovac island. From there, head out to Palmižana on a breathtaking archipelago. The tour is capped by a late afternoon stroll through Hvar town, one of the most popular destinations in Croatia. Return to Makarska.

Have breakfast at the hotel, then head out on a half-day group panoramic tour of the Biokovo mountain including its new attraction: the glass platform Skywalk. The platform is described as a walking surface at the edge of a cliff above an abyss at an altitude of 1,200 metres. From this plateau, the lookout offers a view of the open sea from a platform secured with steel and concrete with a floor made entirely of glass! You'll have the rest of the day to explore at leisure.

Travel to Split and start your city tour upon arrival. The largest city on the Croatian coast preserves the relaxed lifestyle of the Mediterranean. The capital of Dalmatia, Split is famous for Diocletian's Palace which is the most important and best-preserved Roman building in Croatia. Besides the palace, you'll visit the Temple of Jupiter and the Cathedral of St. Domnius. In the evening, visit one of the traditional konoba inns for a Dalmatian dinner or take a stroll along Prokurative.

Trogir and Zadar

Drive from Split to the medieval city of Trogir centred by a small island. The Cathedral of St. Lawrence is an important monument in Trogir. After a short tour, head to Zadar and take a walking tour of the historical centre. Admire the defensive walls, the medieval gates and the Trg 5 Bunara, Square of the 5 Wells. Other monuments include the Roman forum, the neighbouring 9th-century rotunda, St Donat's Church and the Sea Organ, a one-of-a-kind instrument embedded in the waterfront.

Return to Zagreb

On the way to Zagreb, visit the town of Nin, the first capital city of the Croats. Walk along its romantic streets and touch the toe of the Bishop Gregory of Nin statue for good luck. Continue to Zagreb and take a walking tour through Zagreb's Upper Town; visiting the Stone Gate, Grič Cannon and St. Mark's Church. Then visit Zagreb's Lower Town with its Austro-Hungarian buildings and charming pedestrian streets. The city is known for its food scene so try one of the local restaurants tonight.
