9-Day Athens, Naxos & Schoinousa

This morning your Athens itinerary comes to an end. Board a boat to the next destination, one of Greece’s largest island in the Cyclades, Naxos! A culinary paradise with amazing landscapes & long stretched beaches, you'll settle into Naxos with a day to enjoy in the main town, known as the Chora, & visit the castle. The town is home to a plethora of fascinating buildings that offer a unique insight into Greek history beyond the gods as the town was ruled by the Venetians for several centuries

Today you will experience Naxos like a local! You'll visit locations off the beaten track and dive into the island's vast history, local tradition, and food culture! You'll explore Naxos while combining its awe-inspiring ancient heritage with its modern-day local tradition and culture. You'll finish your day with local olive oil tasting at the Olive Press Museum in Eggares. If you wish to spend your day another way, this can be arranged.

Today, you can enjoy a day at Agios Prokopios beach (easily accessed by taxi from Chora). Seize the day on the golden sand and sit in one of the numerous bars and restaurants that place their tables outside to enjoy the island vibe and indulge into some people-watching while having some seafood meze. This is the perfect way to soak up the charming atmosphere of Naxos.

Today, you'll board a ship to Schoinousa island. Located south of the island of Naxos, Schinoussa is a tiny remote island boasting unspoiled natural beauty. Whilst few know about this island, it is slowly emerging as a wonderful alternative destination for a relaxing holiday away from the crowds. Whilst on Schinoussa, you'll spend your time between secluded beaches, wild landscapes and traditional settlements.

Today, you'll head out a cruise to the nearby Koufonisi island. This daily cruise will give you the opportunity to get to know some of the most remote beaches of Koufonisia. You will swim in crystal clear waters; you will see volcanic remnants and sea caves that beguile! The day cruise is about eight hours long so a full day of swimming, snorkelling and relaxing on the beach with a BBQ lunch awaits you!

With a charming harbour and sprinkling of yachts, there isn't much more to do in Schinoussa than go for a hike, explore on foot, eat delicious seafood and relax on the beach. The main village of Schinoussa, Chora, is the capital of the island and here you'll find most facilities including local restaurants, shops and hotels. Beyond Chora, you'll find traditional settlements which have retained their old-age charm with whitewashed houses, blue-domed chapels and winding alleys.

This morning, you'll board the ferry back to Naxos in order to catch your ferry to Athens. Upon arrival in Athens in the late afternoon, your driver will meet you and take you to your hotel. You'll then have the rest of the day to spend as you wish. This is the perfect opportunity to visit the sights of Athens you haven't yet had the chance to, have a delicious dinner overlooking the acropolis or perhaps sample Athens' famous nightlife!
