On arrival in Adelaide, you'll pick up your hire vehicle (not included) and drive the scenic route through the beautiful Adelaide Hills to the Barossa Valley. You'll start with an up-close Australian wildlife experience at Gorge Wildlife Park. This is not your average wildlife park; it's a place where people and animals get together. Under shaded trees, paths meander amongst the animals offering many relaxing hours of wildlife. You'll then continue to Tanunda.

Discover Tanunda and the Barossa Valley, Australia's best-known wine region. You'll start at 'The Taste of the Region' Interpretive Centre in the basement of the Kapunda Visitor Information Centre. Your afternoon tour is at Jacob's Creek, one of the only places in South Australia where you can blend your own white or red wine. The unique blend experience combines a social wine bar with the opportunity to work one-on-one with a Jacob's Creek staff member.

Today, you'll Drive to Melrose, the oldest town in the Flinders Ranges. It is in the shadow of Mount Remarkable. Explore the surrounding bushland on a mountain bike, walk to the top of Mount Remarkable where incredible views to be had; admire the town's many historic buildings; visit the interesting Heritage Museum and learn about the town's history, or see what rural life was like on the edge of Goyder's Line.

Alligator Gorge and Wilpena Pound

Rise early to discover a hidden gem just outside of Melrose, Alligator Gorge. Over millions of years, Alligator Creek was formed through ancient rocks. You can easily walk into the gorge along a short walking trail, there are also longer hikes. You'll then drive to Wilpena Pound, an iconic natural wonder of the Flinders Ranges, you will see why this landscape is the haven of the Outback. Over 800 million years old, it has been home to the Adnyamathanha people for tens of thousands of years.

Day 5

Gorges and Scenic Flight

You'll meet at Rawnsley Park Station for a half-day tour of Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges. See spectacular scenery and wildlife and learn of the geology of the Flinders Ranges National Park, once an ancient seabed. Then, enjoy a spectacular 30-minute scenic flight in the afternoon which includes a complete circuit of Wilpena Pound where your pilot will point out Arkaba Station, Elder Range, Edeowie Gorge, Heysen Range, Lake Torrens, Bunyeroo Gorge, Brachina Gorge, St Mary Peak and the Pound Gap.

There is so much to see and do with a range of guided Aboriginal cultural walks and abundant wildlife.
Take a drive to historic Blinman, the highest town in South Australia that began with the discovery of copper. Visit Blinman Mine, a popular attraction with tours available or continue onwards to the iconic Prairie Hotel for a bite to eat. The Prairie Hotel restaurant is renowned for innovative dishes with native, ‘Flinders Feral Food’ twists, and a focus on local South Australian produce.

Tody, you'll take a leisurely drive to Clare. The hardest part of this journey is trying to work out the logistics of Magnetic Hill. Found on Black Rock road near the townships of Pekina and Peterborough, Magnetic Hill is famous for its ability to make vehicles feel as though they are rolling uphill. Arrive in the Clare Valley, where around every bend there is a new adventure. Relax, unwind and breathe it in.

A thought-provoking tour that taps into the early history of the Clare Valley. You'll enjoy an intimate, guided tour of Sevenhill Cellars - a sacred site with spiritual character, built by the society of Jesuits in 1851. Travel on back roads and private property, through vineyards and farmland with stunning views of Polish Hill River and beyond. You'll sample wines from some of the Valley's younger stars like Hill River Estate, Pikes, Paulett or Reillys and choose a winery to stop for lunch.
