Starting from Hanoi, the 1,000-year-old city and capital, your first stop is Pu Luong Nature Reserve which offers you the chance to visit some hidden villages and learn about the everyday lives of the ethnic people.

The World Heritage Site, Halong Bay is a must-see, offering you a marvellous overnight stay on a traditional junk before travelling to Central Vietnam where there are many interesting things in Hue Citadel and Hoi An Ancient Town.

In the south, you will explore the Mekong Delta, biking from village to village, experiencing Southern Vietnamese folk music and taking a sampan through the small canals. Cat Tien National Park comprises an amazingly biodiverse area of lowland tropical rainforest. The 72,000-hectare park is one of the outstanding natural treasures in Vietnam, a true jungle. There are many other mammals to see, including a number of primate species such as the endemic golden-cheeked gibbon, bears, elephant and gaur. Many birds can be found, including Germain's peacock pheasant, bar-bellied pitta and the rare endemic orange-necked partridge.

Once these lowland forests were the favoured areas for colonial big game hunters and international trophy collectors who came to hunt the large mammals once common in the region. Today it provides one of the last areas of lowland forest in Vietnam where you can see some of Indochina’s flora and fauna and the conservation efforts being developed to protect them.
