Overview

Embark on an evocative journey to explore the wonders of Peru and its neighbour, Brazil, on this 12-day luxury Peru trip!

Beginning in the capital of Peru, Lima, you'll jet off the next day to the Sacred Valley where you'll explore Inca ruins, enjoy delicious Andean meals and relax in luxury come nightfall. After a day or two of hiking to conquer the mighty Machu Picchu, you'll take the train to the capital of the Sacred Valley, Cusco, where you'll explore the city and the many ruins that surround it.

Before long, it's time to jump on a plane to the mighty Iguazu Falls which straddle the Argentina-Brazilian border. You'll tour both sides of these thunderous falls before jetting off to your final destination, the wonderfully vibrant city of Rio de Janeiro.

Your final few days will be spent touring the city, taking in the stunning cityscape and beyond from above and yachting around Cotunduba Island!

Day 1

Upon arrival to Jorge Chavez International Airport Lima, you'll walk to Costa del Sol Wyndham Airport Hotel. The Costa del Sol Wyndham Hotel is conveniently located just one minute on foot from the international arrivals gate. Using this hotel means that you won’t require a lengthy 40-60 minute transfer to downtown Lima (Miraflores), allowing you more time to relax after your international flight, and meaning you are at the airport for your morning departure the next day.

This morning, you'll head to the airport for your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival, you'll be picked up from the airport for your tour of the Pisac ruins which are among Peru’s most intact ancient sites, a perfect example of ingenious Inca architecture. The views of the countryside are spectacular. You'll then head back to your luxury hotel which faces the Andes Mountains and supports the local communities.

This morning, you'll head out on a privately guided tour to the Maras Salt Pans. A great photo opportunity where salt production has changed little over generations in a spectacular landscape. You'll then visit the mysterious ruins at Moray, once used as an Inca crop laboratory. Your final visit is to the large ruins of Ollantaytambo, one of the last stands of the Inca Pachacuiti against the Spanish conquistadors in 1536.

This morning, you'll head off on a magnificent trek in the footsteps of the Inca. You'll take a private transfer to Ollantaytambo train station and board the train to the KM 104 trail marker to Machu Picchu. With a professional guide, Inca Trail permits and entrance to Machu Picchu, you'll make your grand entrance to Machu Picchu via the Sun Gate for an unforgettable moment. A delicious box lunch is included. The trek will take around six hours and cover six miles in total.

Today, you'll begin the day with a 2.5-hour private tour of Machu Picchu with a local expert guide. You'll tour the UNESCO World Heritage site and visit the Caretakers Hut, Temple of the Sun, the Royal Tomb, Three Windowed Temple, Intihuatana/Solar Clock, and the quarry. You'll then return via shuttle bus to Aguas Calientes where you'll catch the Vistadome train back to Ollantaytambo where you'll be transferred to your hotel in Cusco.

You'll have a free morning to relax. In the afternoon, you will explore the city of Cusco, known as the Imperial City and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Here you will start your tour at the iconic San Pedro market, a local market where you can see the colours, flavours and traditions of modern Cusco. The visit continues with Koricancha Temple, the Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, Q’enqo archaeological site and the Plaza de Armas (main square), where you will visit the beautiful Cathedral.

This morning, you'll be up early for your private transfer to Cusco airport. From here, you'll catch a flight to Lima from which you'll catch a connecting flight to Foz do Iguacu. Upon arrival, you'll be transferred to your hotel to check in. As you'll be travelling for much of the day, you'll be likely to want to simply relax at your hotel for the evening and get some rest.

Today, you'll cross the Tancredo Neves Bridge with its lovely view of the Iguassu Canyon heading towards the Iguaçu National Park in Argentina. At the entrance, a small train will take you on a tour through the park visiting the upper and lower circuit. You'll follow the walkways to the top of the waterfalls that provide spectacularly unique views of the ‘Cataratas. The highlight of the trip is a visit to the suspended platform at the very brink of the Devil’s Throat.

Along with its “sister” park in Argentina, the Iguassu National Park forms the most significant remaining rainforest in the southern cone of South America.

After breakfast, you'll be transferred to Foz do Iguacu airport for your flight to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil's capital. After a two-hour flight, you'll land in Rio where you'll be met by your driver who will take you to your hotel on Copacabana Beach. After checking in, you'll have the rest of the afternoon and evening to explore the city on your own or relax at your hotel.

This morning, you'll head off on a private tour to visit the most famous landmarks of the city from up above. After a scenic drive along Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, you'll arrive at the bottom of Corcovado Hill. You'll embark on a comfortable train that ascends the mountain, where the statue of Christ the Redeemer is located 2,300 feet above sea level. Afterwards, you'll descend the mountain and stop for a lunch. You'll then make the journey to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain in glass cable cars.

Once at Cotunduba Island, it’s possible to appreciate one of the most beautiful scenes of the city. Upon return, you'll be transferred to the airport for your departing flight.
