Embark on a wonderful 15-day trip along the stunning northeast coast of Australia, known as the Sunshine Coast!

Australia conjures images of the Great Barrier Reef, big-wave surfing, incredible landscapes and an endearing assortment of animals. Picking up your rental car upon arrival, you'll make your way north through the Sunshine Coast state of Queensland.

Historical heritage, fabulous beaches, unique national parks, stunning landscapes and more await you as you make your way through several iconic destinations on the Queensland coast.

Upon arrival at Brisbane airport, you'll pick up your hybrid car and head to your hotel in the city. The capital of Queensland, Brisbane is the third-largest city in Australia and as such enjoys an interesting heritage, while maintaining a human dimension that makes it a pleasant place to visit. Its 70 kilometers of magnificent beaches with constant waves make it a paradise for surfers. After checking into your hotel, the rest of the day is at leisure to do as you wish.

This morning, you'll depart by boat for the Sanctuary of Lone Pine. Opened in 1927, the sanctuary is a shelter for sick, injured and orphaned koalas at a time when the species was slaughtered for the fur trade. After returning by boat, you'll have some free time before you drive to the beautiful Glass House Mountains National Park, near the picturesque village of Montville, an ideal place for hiking, walking, picnicking or cooling off in a waterfall.

Explore the region’s 11 ancient volcanic peaks, walk through lush rainforests, hike waterfalls, and admire breathtaking scenery - lose yourself in the natural beauty and serenity of the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast. If hiking isn't your thing, you can head to the famous Australia Zoo within the park, set up by the late Steve Irwin and his family.

En route to Mon Repos, don’t miss the town of Hervey Bay, known as the world’s premier whale-watching destination from July to November. After checking into your eco-resort, you can visit the Amandine Lavender Farm & learn how to propagate & grow your own lavender

Heron Island is famous worldwide for its spectacular coral reef, an extraordinary variety of marine life, migrating whales, nesting turtles, and abundant birdlife. You can look forward to walking the reef at low tide, snorkelling and diving at one of the 21 recognised dive sites, as well as bird watching, turtle spotting and whale watching.

After a morning at leisure on Heron Island, you'll board the ferry to Gladstone and pick up your vehicle to continue exploring Australia’s east coast! You'll drive to Rockhampton where you will pass the Tropic of Capricorn. You will arrive at your cottage in the middle of nature. Set up a barbecue, swim in the pool or photograph kangaroos and other local animals. After sunset, you can light a campfire and sit under the tropical starry sky.

Don’t miss Cape Hillsborough National Park, located 45 minutes north of Mackay, where eucalyptus forests meet the sea, a favourite habitat for many species such as the Kookaburra, kangaroo and koala. You'll end the day at Airlie Beach, a cosy little seaside resort and gateway to the Whitsundays archipelago.

Today, you'll explore the archipelago. You'll wake up at the first reef site to snorkel the coral fringes of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. After a tropical breakfast, you'll explore the corals and discover the myriad of fish and turtles that populate the reefs. Later, you'll explore a new snorkelling site chosen specifically for its wide range of fish and coral. You'll enjoy a buffet lunch and a tropical fruit platter. In the evening, you'll return back to Airlie Beach.

This morning, you'll drive to Paluma National Park. Along Paluma Range Road, you will encounter Little Crystal Creek and Big Crystal Creek, two great places to picnic, swim and walk in the bush. Beyond the village of Paluma, the small town of Hidden Valley is home to Hidden Valley Cabins, an eco-refuge offering home-cooked meals and day trips with the platypus. Tonight, you can observe the local wildlife of the region in the company of an experienced guide.

The Platypus Safari tour from Hidden Valley Cabins includes a guide and history of Hidden Valley. This tour has a 98% success rate of spotting Platypus.

This morning, you will climb aboard the Ocean Safari. The tour begins on the beach of Cape Tribulation where you will board the boat bound for the tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef. You will have the chance to see a multitude of tropical fish, as well as sea turtles, sea eagles, giant clams and starfish. You'll return to land at the end of the tour and you'll have the option to enjoy a cruise to see the sea crocodiles, zip-line through the treetops or sample local fruit on a local farm.
